The Emerging Role of Dairy Proteins and Bioactive Peptides in Nutrition and Health Dietary Proteins in the Regulation of Food Intake and Body Weight in Humans

چکیده
This review presents 4 lines of evidence supporting a role for proteins in the regulation of food intake and maintenance of healthy body weights. It is concluded that the protein content of food, and perhaps its source, is a strong determinant of short-term satiety and of how much food is eaten. Although the role of protein in the regulation of long-term food intake and body weight is less clear, the evidence reviewed suggests that further research to define its role is merited. Such research has the potential to lead to new functional foods, food formulations, and dietary recommendations for achieving healthy body weights. J. Nutr. 134: 974S–979S, 2004.

Antimicrobial Peptides Derived from Milk: A Review
Milk proteins provide a natural source of bioactive peptides with potential health benefits and applications in the food industry. The release of these peptides from milk proteins is achieved either by hydrolysis using digestive proteases or by lactic acid bacteria fermentation. Peptides, particularly those derived from milk proteins, can exert a wide range of nutritional, functional and biolog...

متن کاملDietary Proteins, Developmental Programming, and Potential Implication in Maternal Obesity
Background: Proteins are known mainly based on their metabolic and nutritional functions including protein synthesis and a source of energy. In spite of various physiological properties attributed to proteins, their functions have neither been addressed by assessing quality of proteins nor by nutrition and dietetic practices. Methods: Studies were included if they were randomized animal studies...

متن کاملThe effects of morphine and nicotine co-administration on body weight, food intake and appetite-regulating peptides in rats
Previous studies in humans and animals have reported that nicotine administration decreases body weightand caloric intake. Opiate and cigarette have been used concomitantly as drug abuse. The aim of the present study was, therefore, to analyze the effect of chronic co-administration of nicotine and morphine on food intake, body weight and on some feeding-associated peptides. All experiments wer...
